About Us & the PNP Difference

People N Planet was started to prove that clothes don't have to harm the planet and its people. It turns out our founder, Jay, was guilty of frequenting fast fashion brands. He admits to putting no real thought into what the clothes were made of, how the material was sourced, who made them, and what happened to them after he got rid of them. After all, they were just clothes, right? What harm could clothes do?

As it turns out, quite a bit.

The textile industry as a whole has been causing substantial damage to the environment, from how the materials are sourced, how they are processed, and how they are disposed of. Further, it is an industry that does not always treat its workers well, exposing farmers to harmful chemicals and workers to unsafe working conditions.

People N Planet is a brand focused on doing the right thing from the start. We want to create a new standard in clothing by being a timeless and stylish brand that:

  • Considers the impact materials have on the environment, how they are processed, and how they can be properly disposed of or recycled.

  • Considers how people are treated along the supply chain, from farmers to factory workers.

  • Is as transparent as possible about its entire value chain.

  • Believes in educating itself as well as its customers.

No material or process is perfect. However, we can strategically design clothing using the best material possible, such as organic cotton instead of conventional cotton. At this time, we greatly limit the use of synthetic, petroleum-based materials such as Spandex and polyester. Unfortunately, their use cannot be avoided completely as they provide functionality not yet found in a better, sustainable material.

We believe that every little bit helps. People N Planet will offset its carbon footprint and continually look into programs for the betterment of the planet and the care of its people.

Below is some insight into the level of detail we've put into People N Planet.
